‘The Social Network’ Director’s Dialogue

In this New York Film Festival interview (Part 1 of 6, click “more” below to see the rest), David Fincher talks about getting to the point in his directing career where his crew actually takes him seriously. Whether it is real or fake, you must have confidence (as a director).  It can take 10-15 years to get comfortable “telling people what to do” and making it efficient. It allows you (as a director) to spend less time explaining/coordinating and more time on the enjoyable and interesting parts of filmmaking (fine details, costumes, etc).
