Chris King, Editor of Senna and Exit Through the Gift Shop, shares his knowledge with BAFTA Guru about editing and storytelling.  King started his film and television studies at California State University, Long Beach. After college, he worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment in television as a material researcher and writer. He began as a summer intern before eventually becoming the material researcher and puzzle writer for “Wheel of Fortune” from 1999-2004.

Senna, a documentary on Brazilian Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna, who won the F1 world championship three times before his death at age 34, won the Sundance World Cinema Audience Award in the Documentary category.  It relies primarily on archive racetrack footage and home video clips provided by the Senna family, rather than retrospective video interviews, and has no formal commentary.  Senna was edited by Chris King.


Exit Through The Gift Shop

Exit Through the Gift Shop: A Banksy Film is a film by street artist Banksy that tells the story of Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant in Los Angeles, and his obsession with street art. The film charts Guetta’s constant documenting of his every waking moment on film, from a chance encounter with his cousin, the artist Invader, to his introduction to a host of street artists with a focus on Shepard Fairey and Banksy, whose anonymity is preserved by obscuring his face and altering his voice, to Guetta’s eventual fame as a street artist himself. Exit Through the Gift Shop was edited by Chris King.

Stone Roses: Made of Stone

The Stone Roses: Made of Stone is a 2013 British music documentary on the acclaimed band The Stone Roses directed by Shane Meadows. The film stars Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary Mounfield and Alan Wren. The film was released on 5 June 2013 in the United Kingdom, The film follows the band reforming in 2012 after a 16-year split, capturing the band at work and in their everyday lives as they rehearse for their much-anticipated reunion on a tour across Europe, which culminated in three triumphant homecoming gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park. Stone Roses: Made of Stone was edited by Chris King.
